Work With Me
As a young woman I adored films by Fellini. Putting Anita Ekberg in Fontana di Trevi made such an impact on me. After finishing school I left as soon as I could for Rome, and big cities like that are hard teachers. Rome for me is also a place like for example NYC, you can only live in the now, in the present... because so much is happening all the time so you can´t linger on the past, or worry about the future... everything is just there in the now.
I lived for the nightlife and basically failed on all other things I was supposed to do there. But I was lucky too, I found what I was supposed to find there... I met a master mentor in painting, Alberto Parres, and somehow I always went to see art films during the day at the locally famous cinema Gli Azzurri Scipioni, to learn better Italian I thought, but instead I learnt a lot about film making. But in the end, Rome almost swallowed me whole, and I think that is why I was so motivated to study so hard afterwards when I came back to Sweden. Because I had felt that non verbal energy that you can only find in adventures of the night. I had loved it, and at the same time it had scared the shit out of me. The fear of loosing myself made me leave my artistic ambitions behind, and go into law after some warming up with sociology and psychology. That was obviously a super adventure too, don´t get me wrong, but at least I didn´t fear for my life. In the end, where I ended up in law is probably one of the most action filled places to be... cyber was hot and new, cyber warfare was on the menu, and I got to take part in global cyber exercises and travel all over the world as a policymaker for the state of Sweden.
Now look at me. A middle aged Swedish woman living in Zürich. Did the part of life with marriage and children, and now free to go back to the hunger I had as a young woman, trying to capture moments of the night. Berlin has saved me in so many ways. The people I met there in the night, gives me inspiration and joy.
To sum up, I strongly believe that Nikos Kazantzakis was right; To be alive is to undo your belt and look for trouble.
I make my own film productions because what I see and love... I am the best to capture. I love lonesome heroes and I have a keen eye for courage and authenticity. By keeping the film making process close to my heart I also manage to achieve an intimacy that is rare to find.
Just like cyber once was new, I believe that the future is spiritual, and in my work, spirituality is what I am looking for.
